Nature Reserve Lommelse Sahara
Nature Reserve the Lommelse Sahara, situated in the north of the province Limburg, is a natural phenomenon. Amid the pine forests plunges suddenly a beautiful desert landscape with endless sand dunes and a clear blue lake. For many tourists a hike in the Lommelse Sahara is one of the TOP 10 hikes in Limburg (Belgium).
The reserve is beautifully maintained and offers numerous marked hiking, mbt (cycle) - and riding trails.
You can enjoy a surprising landscape with pine forests, dunes, heather and the play forest with natural toys. From afar you can see the big watchtower above the forest. Climb the 30m high tower and enjoy a magnificent view of the surroundings.
Also dogs are welcome in the Lommelse Sahara and can enjoy a large (4 hectares) dog playground where they can play happily and free. What attracts us especially in the Lommelse Sahara is the surprising landscape. When encountering the real Sahara landscape and the blue lake, it feels like arriving in a different world. Do not miss the moment to look at the Kempen canal, where you'll find a unique footbridge.
