The reserve offers numerous marked hiking- and mbt (bike) trails. The trails lead through a varied landscape and go over paved and imaginary trails, sometimes crossing straight through a field. On weekends you will meet many cyclists who will greet you with the typical kindness of Limburg. During our exploration of the Mombeekvallei we could enjoy fairytale fog, a natural phenomenon that frequently occurs in the early morning or early evening in this type of landscape.

A farmer, with whom we had a chat, told us that, in clear weather conditions, you have beautiful views over the surrounding area. Descending into the valley you pass winding trails and picturesque wooden bridges that cross the landscape from left to right before arriving in beautiful marsh forests. These forests can develop their typical form by the moist soil in the valley. This landscape is home to many animals and amphibians, including some unique species such as the colorful Kingfisher. Definitely visit the Mombeekvallei in the spring, when many grasslands are full of colorful flowers and are visited by butterflies and insects.
